If the Grenfell Tower
block had been a luxury block of flats with wealthy and powerful residents they
would have been re-housed within weeks. The resulting investigation and inquest
would have been wrapped up within months. This disaster highlights the class
divide in an area where the rich and wealthy live in close proximity to
Grenfell Tower and yet how many supercars do you see turning up with items of
goodwill for those affected? I think there is very much an ivory tower mentality
in London and the wealthy are totally detached to the misery and suffering of
others. But it wasn't the wealthy who showed up to bring clothes, blankets, hot
drinks and comfort to the victims and families on that day, those acts of
kindness and compassion came from those who just as disadvantaged which speaks

incredibly narrow-minded, you are stereotyping all of the people in that
building. The wealthy are totally detached from the difficulty people from poorer
backgrounds have. You cannot simply assume that many of the families in

success of their lives regardless of background. The wealthy in this country
and especially London just seem to write off sections of society because its
convenient to do so and use that old cliche 'the tax issue' to excuse their own
behaviour and the lack of help they offer the needy. The wealthy have no

years been pumping their money into tax avoidance schemes. I work as an hca in
the NHS and I pay taxes. The distribution of wealth in this country only makes
the rich get richer and the poor, poorer. Take Philip Green, he's a fine example of someone whose
wealth accumulated off the back of the hard work British Home Stores staff put
into the business as he depraved them of their pension funds. How someone like
that sleeps at night is anyones guess. will
not observe a minutes silence in support of this type of political attitude.
Many innocent people have tragically lost their lives, rich and poor. We do not
have a silence for Aberfan, Birmingham bombings, dunblane, Manchester and many
other similar tragedies. Wailing for political reasons is very unseemly.What
type of political attitude? I am only pointing out fact. I think its terrible
people have lost their lives but I have a right to pour scorn on the wealthy
households nearby that deserted people when they needed support. There is
definitely a class divide in areas of London, thats not political.....its
fact.They can’t put them in housing they don’t have. It must be costing them so

What I don’t understand is why there were so many people living in some of the flats?? But when a disaster such as this involves marginalised, disadvantaged people they have to battle for answers as to why? Council's across the land have been playing russian roulette with people's lives for far to long as they live in sub-standard accommodation not fit for people to live in. All people have a basic human right to live in comfort regardless of background and circumstances and council's are simply failing in their duty to provide safe and adequate housing as they cut corners to save money.This was an avoidable and tragic chain of events, but make no mistake that the inquiry will be a whitewash. The Govt will not allow it own Tory Council to be culpable. The small guys will be hammered instead.I remember sitting on my bed watching the horror unfold in silence and disbelief. Tears streaming down my face. Sadly Great Britain isn’t as great as some may think!
