Elaine Doig I find it immensely funny that while our Queen was a land girl her soon to be husband was learning all there is to know in the Nazi youth with 2 prominent uncles in the Nazi party. I suppose and it just shows that all the elite are on the same side. Whatever Phillip’s broken childhood background has been he’s remained a true blue Brit and loyal husband to the crown. Lucky for Britain too that the Queen’s despicable snivelling weak minded Nazi sympathising uncle abdicated. Rob Brown, duh. Philip was in the Royal Navy while she was in the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service as a mechanic and driver, not a land girl. Don't where you got your "alternative facts" but historically, you are mistaken. He spent the latter bit of 1933 and the beginning of 1934 in Germany, but that was it. Then he was off to Gordonstoun and then the RN. Yes, he had German relatives but so did many people on the Allied side who were in the Forces. I'm amazed that the Guardian did not notice that the Queen wore her "EU outfit" when she met with Trump :) 🇪🇺 Only replaced the flowers on the hat but then she added a paisley brooch...(look up the origins of paisley). She's too smart not to realise what she's doing. I'm a republican (in the British sense) as a matter of principle; but she has undoubtedly demonstrated numerous times that she is the best person for the job of head of state of the UK. Her literal job is to be born and to exist while being mega-rich and an object of mass deference. C'mon everybody. Democrat colours, handbag strategically placed so he couldn’t grab her, (which would have been outrageous).
Excellent forward planning but he’s so up himself and arrogant, he wouldn’t notice he’d been out manoeuvred. Nobody listened to Hillary. Women are reduced to communicating through their clothes, like colonial subjects. I think she knew exactly what she was doing.. # 1. She is very intelligent. # 2. A woman is very selective when she pins a broach on her jacket for a special occasion. Never doubt this. Also republicans wear red and she is dressed in the opposite lols well done Lizzie you smart old gal. This lady has a wealth of knowledge, experience and a worldwide network which, hopefully she is passing on. We shouldn't live in the past but we should take note of what has gone before, it gives insight into what drives others in the here and now.

Whether done on purpose or not I think most people dress with purpose even select pieces of jewellery for a reason especially if for an occasion. Whether it was a political message that is for the Queen to know and for everyone else to wonder. Quite often I believe she does these subtle things. I am loving this Queen! I had no idea she was a mechanic during the war and loved getting her hands dirty. Hmmm, wonder what gift #45's brought her? Number three was worn by Queen Elizabeth, the queen mother, to her husband’s funeral. Not by HRH to her father’s funeral. I'd love to think she was sending a message to him but I'm not certain of this at all. It could just be that she wore the brooch because she likes it, or because she thought it was fitting to wear a brooch given to her by an American president when another one visited.
