To teach you to be grateful for the life you
have in freedom, to open your eyes to the suffering of others, to understand
culture and not just get your news from FB???? What was that national agency that recommends
you DONT go to North Korea? If you mess up and do the wrong thing, you can't
get help. North Korea is rich in natural resources that could attract the
desire to travel there. I think it's to gain a
sense of realism of what it's actually like over there compared to what we hear
or see from TV and social media, or just to see what it's like. There's a
pretty neat documentary on what it's like over there on YouTube. I have
met people who have escaped NK. Their families were tortured and murdered for
them leaving. It's a sick and crazy place. Really!! Because it's fascinating!
the way they are made to live is despicable but Hard to imagine so you go and
see it for yourself. Without these pictures, we have nothing to go of off. Why would they want to go there? It should be obvious.
Journalism. We would never have explored the world if someone else did not
attempt it first, and report their findings back to the masses. Why would any
of them go into war without guns ? To document. To remember. To learn. To
teach. Many, many reasons.

I am not that brave. Instead I read and appreciate what they risk their lives to report. It's very heroic in a scholastic perspective. Dark Tourism is a quickly growing area of tourism that I for one find fascinating. This is when you travel to places to experience a somber feeling. Visiting concentration camps, the suicide forest, Chernobyl, DRPK, etc.
I like to experience the dark sides of human history. Tracy Paquette just because charity starts at home doesn't mean that you can't help people in other places as well. It's important to remember that shit ain't sweet for everybody. You mustn't be ignorant to the struggles of the rest of the world. Carling Elizabeth Lui that's exactly the thing. The citizens in NK think they are living a normal life. What do they have to compare it to?? It's very sad, very scary. Makes you wonder how much propaganda truly runs our lives here in the states. Gina Smalley Stuteville you are an example of what's wrong with this country. So full of xenophobic people. If we don't travel, we'll never learn to understand other peoples' struggles. You should always explore if you can. NK is a very beautiful country that in a different time would be a great place to visit. I would go now if I would be safe. But it's not safe anywhere now as an American. I'm also a ginseng enthusiast and they have it there. I believe that in there own way they have a right to run there country how they choose like we do. Just wish we could all be free and have freedom to see the world and all its beauty. Chris Baker the citizens don't have any rights on how their country is run. Do you honestly think people want to live under conditions like that? To be scared 24 hours a day? My husband and I went to see a coubtry from the inside, as opposed to these bullshit posts. We ran in the Pyongyang Marathon and were able to run around the city unaccompanied by guides. It was amazing.

Yes, they took our passports at the hotel, but only to check us in and we got them right back. I never felt unsafe.
This so-called photographer didn't seem to take pictures of the teenagers at the skate parks, or the girls squealing ad they went down a slide at the water park, or the kids riding the roller coaster at the amusement park, or the old ladies gossiping together or the men playing games and smoking in the park.
